Down here on the Pune-Mumbai Road in Chinchwad, the noise from the traffic is constant. That’s where you’ll find Premium Transmission Ltd. We deal with gears, boxes, and all sorts of mechanical parts that make machines go. Our shop floor is usually a bit oily, and there’s always the sound of metal hitting metal. We’ve been in Chinchwad for quite a long time. The staff here knows their way around a gearbox better than anything else. It isn't the cleanest job in the world. You’re going to get some grease on your shirt if you hang around too long. We make parts that other companies use in their big setups. It’s practical work. We don't spend much time on fancy offices. Most of our day is spent looking at blueprints or checking the machines to make sure everything is cut right. Sometimes a shipment is delayed or a machine breaks down, and we have to stay late to fix it. That's just how it works in manufacturing. The road outside is always busy with trucks, which makes it easy to send out what we make. We have a mix of old-timers who’ve been here twenty years and some younger folks learning the trade. It’s a steady place. We just focus on the metal and the gears and getting the orders out of the gate on time. It is a bit loud, but you get used to it after a while and barely notice the trucks passing by.
