Chandan Steel & Furnitures

We have been running Chandan Steel & Furnitures for quite some time. The shop is in Dhanakawadi at the Opera House building. We take up Shop No 1, 2, and 3 on Plot No 8, Surve. Having three shops next to each other helps because furniture takes up a lot of room. We have steel cupboards and wooden tables lined up against the walls. It smells like fresh polish and metal in here. The floor is usually covered in some sawdust or packing materials. It’s a bit of a climb to get some of the bigger items out, but we manage. Dhanakawadi is a good area, and we’ve gotten to know the people living around Plot No 8. We aren't a big chain store or anything like that. Just a local place where you can see the stuff before you take it home. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives. We spend the mornings moving things around to make space. It’s hard work, lifting heavy frames and cabinets all day. My brother and I usually handle most of it. We don't have a website or anything, we just stay here and wait for people to walk in. It’s a simple way to do business. We keep our doors open and hope the rain stays out of the showroom.
