Chaitanya Pan Shop

Chaitanya Pan Shop is right there in Bhosarigoan. It’s a simple setup, just like most of the shops in this area. I started this because I wanted something of my own. Most of the day is spent behind the counter, looking out at the street. Bhosarigoan is a busy place with a lot of workers and families moving about. I have a small mirror on the wall and a few shelves for the supplies. The jars of supari and fennel seeds are lined up so I can reach them easily. Sometimes the weather gets really hot and the leaves start to wilt, so I have to keep them wrapped in wet cloth. It’s a constant battle with the heat. I don't have a big team, just me and occasionally my younger brother helps out. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. People know where we are if they want a pan after their dinner. I try to keep the place as tidy as possible, but it’s hard with all the dust from the road. To be honest, some days are slow and I just sit and watch the world go by. Other days, I can’t move fast enough to keep up with the line. It’s a basic life, but it’s mine. I just focus on making the next order right and keeping the customers happy enough to come back tomorrow. At the end of the shift, I count the change and lock the cabinet.
