Cafe 1730 Beans And Booze

Our place is on the 1st floor at Chickpet Cross, near Koregaon Road. It’s a bit of an odd spot at S. No 21/1, but people find their way up the stairs. We have the coffee side of things for the morning and the booze for when it gets later. The espresso machine is pretty old and makes a lot of noise, but it still works fine. I spend a lot of time wiping down the bar and polishing the glasses. It gets dark in here even during the day, which some people like. They come in to get away from the sun for a bit. We play some music, but nothing too loud. We’ve got a few old couches that have seen better days, but they are comfortable enough for a quick sit. The staff is just a couple of us who have been here a while. We know who wants a strong black coffee and who wants something a bit harder. It’s not a fancy lounge. It’s just a place to hang out. Sometimes we run out of certain bottles or the milk delivery is late, and we just have to tell people. They usually understand. We just try to keep the atmosphere relaxed. It's a job like any other, just with more coffee and dishes to wash. The view from the window is mostly just the street below, but it's interesting to watch.
