You can find Bhairavnath Provision Stores down at Chikhlee Galli No 8, near the Canal Road. It is a bit tucked away, but the people who live in the galli know us well. We sell all the regular things you would expect, like rice, pulses, and cleaning supplies. The shop is small and can get a bit cramped when more than two people are inside. We spend a lot of time organizing the small packets of shampoo and biscuits that hang from the ceiling. Being near the canal means it can get a bit damp sometimes, so we have to be careful with how we store the dry goods. We open up early and usually stay until late evening. The street, Galli No 8, is narrow, so it is mostly foot traffic and the occasional scooter. We do not have a computer to keep track of things; we just use a ledger or remember who owes what. It is an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us and the people around Chikhlee. We get our stock from the main market every week, and it is a chore to get it all through the narrow alleyway and into the shop. But once it is all on the shelves, it feels good.
