Bedekar Misal

We are located at 418 in Subhash Nagar, right in the middle of Narayan Peth. It’s an old neighborhood, and our building fits right in. Most of our day is spent in the kitchen area, dealing with the big pots and the smell of spices that seems to stick to everything, including our clothes. We have a lot of people coming in for their morning meal, and it can get quite loud with all the benches being moved around and people talking. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet because we’re always busy with the food. We use a lot of onions and chilies, so there’s always someone in the back peeling or chopping away. The line sometimes goes out the door, especially on the weekends, and we just try to keep up as best as we can. We aren't much for fancy decorations; we just have the tables and chairs that have been here forever. Sometimes we have to ask people to share a table if it gets too crowded. It’s just the way it works here. We keep track of everything on small slips of paper and handle the cash at the small desk near the front. It’s a lot of routine, from boiling the pulses to cleaning up the spilled tea at the end of the shift.
