Balaji Scrap Center

We’ve been running Balaji Scrap Center for a while now here in Village Manchar. It’s right near the Pune - Nashik Highway, so it’s easy for folks to find us when they have old metal or junk piling up in their yards. Being out here in Tehsil Ambegaon means we see a lot of different things come through the gate. Sometimes it’s old tractor parts, other times it’s just piles of iron or copper from people cleaning out their sheds. We spend most of our days sorting through whatever people bring in. It’s messy work, but someone has to do it. The yard gets pretty full sometimes, especially when the trucks are slow to come pick things up. We try to keep things moving so there’s space for the next load. People around here know we’re usually around from morning until evening. It’s just a plain scrap yard, nothing fancy to look at. We mostly deal with local farmers and builders who have leftover scraps from their projects. The dust from the highway is something we just got used to over the years. If you’re passing by the highway and see the piles of metal, that’s us. We just weigh the stuff, pay out, and throw it on the heap. It’s a simple way to make a living and keeps the village a bit cleaner from all the rusting iron lying around. We don't have a big office, just the scale and the shed.
