Ashok Kirana

Ashok Kirana is over on Pratapgarh Road at Shop No. 32. We are in the Mahidam area, which stays pretty active throughout the day. One thing about our location is that we are right opposite Prakash Band. During the wedding season, it gets incredibly loud with the drums and the music playing right across from us. Sometimes it is hard to hear what the customers are asking for over all that noise. We mainly sell basic groceries like dal, rice, sugar, and oil. The bags of flour are stacked near the entrance, and I usually have to move them around every morning to make space for people to walk in. It is a small shop, but we have been here for years and know most of the families who live around Pratapgarh Road. The shelves are wooden and a bit old, and I have had to nail them back together a few times myself. We don't have a computer for billing or anything, just a notebook where I write things down and a small calculator. It is a very simple way of doing things, but it works for us and our regulars. The Mahidam area is a good place to be, even if the road gets a bit muddy when it rains. We usually sit on the stools out front when there aren't many people around, just watching the traffic go by. It is just a regular kirana store for the local people.
