Apollo Lavasa Hospital

Apollo Lavasa Hospital is up in the hills at Dasve, Mulshi. It’s a very different vibe from any city hospital I’ve worked at before. For one thing, it’s much quieter. You don’t have the sound of city traffic, just the wind and sometimes the rain hitting the windows. During the monsoon, the whole place gets covered in mist, and it’s actually quite beautiful, though it makes the drive up here a bit treacherous. The hospital is small compared to the ones in Pune or Mumbai. We don’t have thousands of people walking through every day. It’s mostly residents of Lavasa or the workers from the nearby villages. Sometimes we get tourists who had a mishap while hiking. Because it’s a bit isolated, we all have to be a bit more self-reliant. We can’t just run out to a shop for supplies whenever we want. The staff all know each other very well. We eat together and complain about the same things, like how long it takes for the mail to arrive. It’s a slower pace of life, but we still have our busy moments. When something serious happens, everyone has to jump in and help. It’s a plain, functional building designed to be useful in a remote area. We don't have fancy decorations. We just have our rooms, our equipment, and the people who need us. It’s a unique place to work, that’s for sure. It feels like its own world.
