Our place is inside the Ram Rahim Complex, specifically at the Emergency Centre. It is a fast-paced environment because of the nature of the work. People are coming in and out at all times of the day and night. The complex itself stays pretty busy with different shops and offices, but our section is focused on the urgent stuff. The floors are white and usually stay pretty clean, though there’s always a bit of dust near the entrance from the street. We have a small team here that manages the intake. There isn't much room for sitting around or chatting. We just stay at our posts and wait for the next person to come through the doors. The lighting is bright and stays on twenty-four hours a day. You kind of lose track of time when you work here. It’s not a fancy office with art on the walls or anything like that. We have some basic furniture and the equipment we need to do the job. Most of us eat our lunch while sitting at the desk because it’s hard to find a quiet moment. It is a practical spot in a busy part of town. We are just here to do what needs to be done. No one really makes a fuss about things. We just handle the arrivals and keep the records straight. It works for us. Sometimes the entrance gets blocked by delivery bikes, so we have to go out and ask them to move.
