Anshul Caterers

If you know the Deccan Gymkhana area, you probably know where the Hotel Ajit is. That is where we operate Anshul Caterers. We are right near the Deccan Gymkhana Post Office and the Pyc Hindu Club, so there is always a lot of movement outside our windows. It is a busy part of town, and we are right in the middle of it. Our days are filled with the smells of different spices and the clatter of heavy steel pots. We have a small team, and most of us have been working together for quite a while. We don't really do the whole fancy marketing thing; we just focus on getting the food cooked and delivered on time. Sometimes the kitchen feels way too small when we have a big order for a party at the club nearby. You’ll see us carrying crates of supplies past the post office almost every morning. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy bags of rice and moving massive tubs of curry into the vans. The heat from the stoves is constant, and by the end of a long shift, we’re all pretty tired and covered in flour or oil. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we like the rhythm of the Deccan Gymkhana neighborhood. We are usually here until late at night cleaning up and getting ready for the next morning’s breakfast orders. Every day is a bit of a scramble, but we manage.
