If you walk down V P Road near Dr Wilson Street, you will find us at C-6/1 in Dhanakawadi. It is a tight little spot near the Ganesh Complex. We have been working with foam and fabric for quite some time now. Most of our day involves stripping down old chairs or figuring out how to make a sofa feel new again. There are always scraps of leather and cloth lying around the floor. It looks a bit messy to an outsider, but we know where everything is. Anil spends a lot of time with the sewing machine and the staple gun. It is honest work and our hands usually have a bit of glue or thread on them by evening. We do some wooden furniture too, but the cushioning is what keeps the shop full. People from around the neighborhood just drop off their stools or dining chairs. We don't have a big showroom. You just see the pieces we are currently working on piled up near the entrance. Sometimes it takes a few days to get the right material delivered, but we stay on it. The street is usually busy with people going to the complex, so there is always some noise coming in through the door. We just keep our heads down and finish the stitching. It’s a small operation, just a few of us making sure the seats are comfortable for whoever sits on them next.
