People know us here in Vadgoensheri 1. The shop opens early, usually before most people are even awake to get their milk. It’s a bit cramped in here because we try to keep everything anyone might need. From washing soap to those small packets of biscuits kids like, it is all stacked up on the wooden shelves. Sometimes the delivery guy comes at the same time a bunch of customers walk in, and it gets a bit chaotic. We just handle it as it comes. The floor gets dusty from people walking in and out all day, so we sweep it whenever there is a quiet moment in the afternoon. It isn't a fancy place with bright lights or anything like that. We just have shelves and a counter where we spend most of our time. Usually, my cousin helps out when it gets busy near the evening. We know most faces by name since they live right around the corner. If someone forgets their wallet, we usually just tell them to pay next time. It’s just how things work here. The ceiling fan makes a bit of noise in the summer, but we got used to it long ago. We keep things simple. There’s no big strategy, we just make sure we have stock and the prices are marked right on the jars. If you need something specific, you usually just ask and we find it in the back. That’s pretty much the daily life at Aneetta General Stores.
