Ambika General Stores

Ambika General Stores is tucked away in the Deccan Tower, right in the Camp area of Pune. If you know where the Poogate Post Office is, then you have basically found us, as we are right across the street. The Camp area is always moving, with vehicles honking and people rushing to get their mail sorted. Our shop is a bit old-fashioned compared to the new glass buildings coming up around Pune, but we like it that way. We stock the usual stuff like lentils, rice, spices, and those small things you always forget to buy at the big supermarket. The shelves are wooden and a bit creaky, and we have to use a stool to reach the top rows. Sometimes the post office workers come over for a quick snack or a pack of cigarettes during their break. We have been here through many rainy seasons when the water splashes up from the road, but we just put out the mats and keep going. It is a simple life, mostly spent weighing out items or counting change. We don't have a big corporate office or a marketing team; it is just us behind the counter, making sure we have what the neighborhood needs. Pune has changed a lot, but this little corner near the post office stays pretty much the same.
