Aman General Stores

Living and working in Hadapsar means you see a lot of people moving in and out. Aman General Stores is right on the main stretch, so we get everyone from school kids to older folks looking for their daily needs. The shelves are packed with all sorts of things, from soap to packets of biscuits. I try to keep it organized, but sometimes things get shuffled around when it’s busy. The morning routine is always the same: roll up the shutters, sweep the front step, and wait for the milk delivery. It can get dusty because of all the construction happening nearby lately. I have a small stool behind the counter where I sit when there’s a lull. The fan overhead makes a rhythmic clicking noise that I don't even hear anymore. It’s a small shop, but we try to keep what people actually ask for. There isn't any fancy lighting or displays here. Just the basics on wooden shelves. Sometimes my cousin comes by to help out on Saturdays when the crowd is bigger. We talk to the neighbors about the weather or the traffic while we weigh out goods. It’s a simple way to make a living. Most of the regulars know exactly where everything is anyway. We’ve been in this spot for years, and it feels like part of the furniture now. The back room is just full of empty crates and extra stock.
