Alatkar Hospital

Our hospital is tucked away in the Bhosale Garden area of Hadapsar, right off the Pune-Solapur Road. If you know Pune, you know how crazy the traffic gets on that main road, so being slightly back from it is a bit of a relief. We get a mix of people coming in—some locals from the garden side and some who are just traveling through on the highway. The building is at 163 A/4, and it’s a pretty straightforward place. We have a small parking area that fills up way too fast in the mornings. Inside, the hallways are narrow and we always have a lot of people sitting around waiting for their turn. It’s a busy hospital but we try to keep some kind of order with the tokens and the files. We don't have any of those expensive coffee machines or plush carpets. It’s just linoleum floors and plastic chairs. The doctors here work long shifts and you can see it on their faces sometimes, but they still take the time to listen. We deal with everything from small scrapes to more serious stuff that needs a few nights' stay. It’s a working-class area and we run a working-class hospital. We don't have a PR department or anything like that. We just provide a place for people in Hadapsar to get better when they’re sick. It's nothing fancy, just a part of the local landscape for years. We close up the main reception late at night.
