Ajay Provision Stores

Living and working in Hadapsar means you get used to the constant movement of people. Our store is located at 223 / 5, right in the middle of everything. Ajay Provision Stores is basically a place where we keep all the daily stuff people need for their kitchens and homes. We spend our mornings unloading sacks of grains and stacking up bars of soap or packets of biscuits. The space isn't very large, so we have to use every bit of the walls for shelves. It can get a bit messy when a big delivery arrives and we have boxes sitting in the aisle for a few hours. Customers are usually our neighbors who just pop in for a liter of milk or some sugar. We know most of them by face, if not by name. There is a specific smell here, a mix of spices and washing powder, that stays in your clothes. We don't have fancy displays. We just put things where people can reach them. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in for a single chocolate or a packet of chips after school. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, but it keeps the air moving while we tally up the bills on a notepad. It is a very normal way to spend a day, just helping people get their groceries and keeping the shelves filled. We don't think much about it, we just open up and start the day.
