Airtalk

If you walk down Rander Road in Erandwane, you’ll find us at 1A 3. Airtalk is a small shop, mostly focused on mobile phones and all the things that go with them. It’s not one of those big glassy showrooms. We have glass counters where we keep the handsets and a wall full of chargers and cases. People come in all day with cracked screens or phones that won't turn on. We spend a lot of time with tiny screwdrivers and magnifying glasses. It’s quiet work, but sometimes it gets frustrating when a part doesn't fit right. We also handle a lot of recharges and new connections. There is always someone coming in to ask why their internet isn't working or how to change a setting on their phone. We just help them out because that’s what we do here. The shop stays quite cool because of the shade from the building next door. We keep a small stool behind the counter for when there’s a break in customers, but that doesn't happen often. We don't do big advertisements or anything. Most people just walk in because they live nearby or they were passing by on the road and saw the sign. We’ve got a small TV in the corner that’s usually on the news or a match. Airtalk is just a simple place for people to get their tech sorted out without a lot of fuss. We enjoy the chat with the regulars who drop by.
