Sri Ramana Vidhyashram Waldorf Inspired School

You can find us at Plot No: 1, Ecr Lawspet in Pondicherry. The school is tucked away a bit from the main rush of the coastal road. We don't look like a typical school with rows of plastic desks and concrete play areas. Instead, we have a lot of natural materials around, like wood and cotton. The kids spend a lot of their time doing things with their hands, whether it's gardening or working with wool. It’s a bit of a slower pace here, which fits the Pondicherry vibe. The humidity can be quite high, so we keep the rooms open and airy. We don't use much in the way of television or computers in our daily work with the children. It’s more about the teachers sharing stories and the kids playing outside in the sand. The floors often have a bit of dirt on them from the garden, and we don't mind that too much. It feels more like a community or a large family than a formal institution. The parents are quite involved and often help out with things around the school. We have some fruit trees and plants that the children help look after, though the monkeys sometimes get to the fruit before we do. It’s a very simple, grounded way of spending the day. We just focus on the rhythm of the seasons and the needs of the children who are here.
