Guru Academy is on the first floor of a building in Civil Lines, Allahabad. The address is 8/6 and we are right above the Bajaj three-wheeler showroom. Being in Civil Lines is nice because it’s central, but being above a showroom means there is always a bit of a buzz from the street. You have to walk up the stairs to get to us. The rooms are fairly large with high ceilings, which is common in these older Allahabad buildings. We have desks lined up and some old cupboards where we keep our files. It’s a quiet place once you are inside and the door is shut. We spend our time going through lessons and talking to students. The fans hum all day long. Outside, you can hear the horns from the main road. It’s a very typical Civil Lines atmosphere. We’ve been here for a while and haven't changed much about the place. The furniture is a bit old but sturdy enough for daily use. We don't use much technology, mostly just pens and paper and the occasional printed sheet we hand out. It’s a very human-centered place. No one wears suits or anything like that. We just dress comfortably for the weather and get on with the work. It’s simple and honest. Sometimes we forget to tidy up the books at the end of the day, but we get to it eventually. It's just how we operate.
