I’m Ujjwal Anand and I run Sri Ram Decorators over on K.F. Road in Patna. We are situated in M.G. Nagar, which is part of the Kankarbagh area. If you’ve ever been to Patna, you know Kankarbagh is a massive residential hub. There’s always something happening on K.F. Road. My shop is where all the planning happens. We have piles of stuff everywhere—fabrics, decorations, and tools. It might look a bit messy to an outsider, but I know exactly where everything is. I started this business because I liked the idea of being my own boss and working with my hands. It’s hard work, especially when we have to haul equipment around in the heat. But seeing a project come together is why I stay in this trade. People stop by the shop all the time just to chat or ask about prices. I don't have a receptionist or anything; usually, it’s just me or one of the guys answering the phone. We’ve been at this same spot for a while now, and the neighbors have become like family. Kankarbagh can be loud and dusty, but it’s got a lot of character. I spend most of my days here, making sure everything is ready for the next job. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest work and it keeps me busy from morning until night. We just take things one day at a time here at the shop.
