Manoj Kr. Jha oversees our operations here in Balua. We are based in the Chhatapur block of Supaul. It’s a quiet area, but we stay busy with various construction projects around the district. Most of our work is out in the open, so we are at the mercy of the weather. When it’s hot, it’s really hot, and when it rains, the work stops. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for years. They know how we like things done. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning. Our headquarters is just a plain building where we store our tools and cement bags. People from the village come by when they want to start a new project. We sit on the bench outside and talk about the details. It’s very informal. We don't use contracts that are thirty pages long. We just agree on the work and get started. Getting materials to Balua can be a challenge sometimes because of the distance from the main supply hubs. We have to plan ahead and make sure we don't run out of sand or steel. It’s a lot of logistics for a small team. We aren’t looking to become a giant corporation. We just want to provide for our families and help people build their homes. It’s honest work and it keeps us occupied. That’s all we really ask for at the end of the day. We hope to stay here for many more years.
