Being near the Civil Court at Gai Ghat Gulzarbagh means there is never a moment of silence around J M D Enterprises. We are right in the middle of all that shouting and traffic every single day. We get a lot of people coming in who are just passing through for their court dates or legal work. The shop floor is a bit uneven, so you have to watch your step when you walk in past the main door. I keep the stock piled high because the space is narrow and we need to fit everything in. It feels like a puzzle sometimes, trying to find a specific item behind three other boxes. The air smells a bit like old paper and the river when the wind blows the right way. I usually have a radio playing low in the background, mostly just for the cricket scores or the local news. We don't bother with fancy labels or anything corporate here. If you need something, you just ask and I’ll dig it out for you. The counter is scratched up from years of sliding heavy bags across it. Sometimes I think about painting the walls, but then we get a big delivery and there’s no time to move everything. It’s just me and a couple of helpers making sure the inventory is right. We've been here long enough that the local rickshaw pullers all know where to stop for a quick item before they head out.
