Our office is located right inside Fort St. George in Chennai. Being at the Station Headquarters for the Administrative Commandant means we deal with a lot of different things every day. The building itself is very old and has that thick-walled feel that you only get in these historic spots. It can be a bit confusing for people to find us the first time because the fort area is quite large. We are part of the administrative side of things here. It's not all parades and drills; there's a lot of paperwork and coordinating that happens behind the scenes. Most of the staff here are used to the routine of the army life. We start early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. By midday, it gets quite hot, and we rely on the old ceiling fans to keep things moving. We handle a variety of tasks that keep the station running smoothly. It’s a lot of coordination between different departments. People come here for all sorts of reasons, from signing papers to asking for directions. We try to be helpful, even when the work piles up. The atmosphere is professional but you can tell everyone has been working together for a long time. There's a certain way things are done here, and we just follow the process. It's a unique place to work, surrounded by so much history in the middle of a busy city like Chennai. We just keep things moving day by day.
