Bikash Saloon

Bikash Saloon is right here on Exhibition Road in Patna, not far from where Apsara Cinema used to be a big deal. The shop isn't fancy or anything. We have a few chairs and mirrors that have seen better days, but they do the job. My father started this place years ago when the road wasn't even this crowded. Now, it's always noisy outside with cars and rickshaws honking. People come in mostly for a quick shave or a haircut before they head to work. We talk about the weather or how the traffic is getting worse every month. Sometimes a guy will sit down and just want his beard trimmed while he scrolls on his phone. We use simple towels and the usual scissors. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fan running at full speed. There’s a tea stall right outside where we get our morning chai. It's a regular spot for the local men who live around here or work in the nearby offices. We don’t have any big signs, just the name on the front. Sometimes kids come in for their school cuts and they usually cry a bit, which makes things lively. We just try to keep the floor swept and make sure everyone leaves looking a bit neater than when they walked in. It’s just a normal part of life on this busy Patna street, day after day.
