Aryabhat College

Danapur Cantt is a busy part of Patna, and our college sits right in the middle of all that activity. There’s always the sound of traffic, horns, and people moving about outside. The students arrive on cycles or take the local rickshaws to get to the front gate. We have a few different wings for the different subjects we teach. The science labs have that old smell of chemicals and dust, which hasn't changed much in the last few years. The hallways are long and have high ceilings, so voices tend to echo when the classes are changing. We have a staff room where the lecturers sit and grade papers while eating their lunch from metal tiffins. The furniture is mostly heavy wood, some of it quite old and scratched from use. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the building directly, making the classrooms very bright. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the big ceiling fans that hum loudly and keep the air moving. Many of our students are trying to get their degrees while also working small jobs in the city to help their families. It’s a hardworking atmosphere. You’ll see groups of friends standing near the notice board checking for exam dates or holiday announcements. The stairs are worn down in the center from thousands of feet walking up and down every day. It’s a functional, honest place for the people of Patna.
