Shivam Rice Mills

Shivam Rice Mills is located on Patiala Road in Bhadson. It’s a pretty straightforward place. We’ve been operating here for a good while now. The yard fills up with tractor-trolleys during the peak season. You can hear the hum of the motors from the street. Bhadson is a busy spot, especially with all the farming around here. We handle a lot of grain throughout the year. The floors are always covered in a bit of husk and grit. It’s hard to keep it perfectly clean when there’s so much coming and going. We have a few sheds for storage. Most of our day is spent checking the moisture or watching the output. It’s repetitive work but it needs doing right. The address on Patiala Road makes it easy for the drivers to find us. Sometimes the traffic outside gets backed up. We just focus on what’s inside the gates. There isn't much to the office, just a desk and some chairs for when people come to settle accounts. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next load. It’s just us here, working the shifts and making sure the bags are stacked properly. If a machine breaks, we try to fix it ourselves first. That’s how things go at Shivam Rice Mills. It’s not a big corporate thing, just a local mill on the road. We stay open until the sun goes down, and sometimes later if the grain is still arriving.
