Punjab Rice & General Mills

Our place, Punjab Rice & General Mills, sits right on Nabha Road over in Bhadson. You can’t really miss the big gates when you drive past. We do a mix of things here, not just one type of milling, so there is always a different kind of crowd coming through. The trucks from the highway make the ground shake a little when they go by fast. Inside the walls, it is mostly the sound of the motors humming. We have a lot of space in the back for storage, which stays pretty cool even when it is hot outside. Sometimes the local kids hang around the gate, and we have to tell them to move along so the tractors can get in safely. The yard has some cracks in the concrete where weeds try to grow, but we don't mind them much. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of what comes in from the local farms. If the grain isn't right, the whole day feels a bit off. We have an old clock on the wall that hasn't worked in years, but nobody bothers to take it down. It’s just part of the room now. We get our water from the pump out front, and it’s the coldest water in the area. Dealing with the paperwork is the hardest part of the job, honestly.
