Om Rice Mills is located on Nabha Road. We are quite close to the New Grain Market in Bhadson. That’s a good spot for us because the grain doesn't have to travel far to get to the mill. We see a lot of activity when the market is open. The road gets clogged with trolleys full of paddy. We have a decent-sized yard where we can park a few trucks at a time. The building is mostly made of tin sheets and iron poles. It gets very hot in there during the afternoon. We have some big exhaust fans but they only do so much. We do the cleaning and the husking here. Sometimes the quality of the paddy isn't great, and we have to spend more time sorting it. It's a lot of manual work. We don't have high-tech computers or anything. We just use basic scales and handwritten receipts. The staff are mostly from Bhadson or the villages nearby. We all know each other. Sometimes we sit out front in the evenings when it cools down and have some tea. It's not a corporate office. It's a place where work gets done with calloused hands. We've had some bad years with the rain, and some good years too. We just take it as it comes. Nabha Road is always busy, so there’s always something to look at while we work. Most days go by pretty fast when the machines are humming along nicely.
