Nav Durge Rice Mill

Nav Durge Rice Mill is situated on Sunam Road. It is one of those places that you might drive past without thinking much of it, but there is always something happening behind the gates. Sunam Road is a key route for us, and it’s how everything gets in and out. The mill has a high wall and a heavy gate that we pull shut every night. Inside, it’s all about the rhythm of the season. When the rice starts coming in, the whole place transforms into a hive of activity. There are people everywhere, shouting over the noise of the fans and the sorters. We don’t have a big office or a lobby. If you want to talk to someone, you usually find them out in the yard or near the main milling unit. The name Nav Durge is important to us, but we don't make a big fuss about it. We just try to work hard and keep things moving. The dust gets into everything, even your clothes and your hair, but you stop noticing it after an hour or two. Sunam Road can be dusty too, especially when the wind kicks up. We spend our days checking the stacks and making sure the loaders are doing their job right. It is just honest, plain work that keeps us busy from January to December. It’s been this way for a long time and we don't expect it to change.
