G.M. Rice Mills

Over at G.M. Rice Mills, we stay pretty busy on Sehajpura Road. Being near Samana Mandi means there is always something going on. Farmers bring their loads in, and we get to work. It's a routine we've followed for a long time now. The shed is big and stores a lot of sacks. It gets hot under the roof in the summer, so we keep the big fans going as much as we can. We aren't some massive corporation with a bunch of rules in a handbook. We just know what needs to be done each day. Some days are slower than others, but during the peak times, we are here late into the night. The machinery is older but it works just fine if you treat it right. We spend a lot of time swept up in dust, but that’s the nature of a rice mill. We don’t have a website or anything like that, people just know where we are. If you drive down Sehajpura Road, you can’t miss the smell of the grain. We just keep our heads down and work. It's a decent living. We make sure the bags are weighed correctly and the rice looks the way it should. It's not complicated, just steady. We like the rhythm of the place and the people we deal with. It feels right to be part of the Mandi scene.
