Gee Ess Rice & General Mills

We run Gee Ess Rice & General Mills over on Patiala Road in Bhadson. It is a busy stretch of road, and we are right in the thick of it. We do a bit of everything here since we are a general mill. Some days it is rice, other days it might be something else the local farmers need processed. The building is nothing special to look at, just a big shed with all our equipment inside. We’ve been here for many years now. The engines make a lot of noise, so you have to shout to be heard when you're standing near the hoppers. We like the work though. It keeps us on our toes. Most of the guys working here are from around Bhadson. We take our tea together in the mid-morning and talk about the crops. The weather is the biggest thing we worry about. If it rains at the wrong time, everything slows down. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here a long time and people know us. The trucks line up on the side of Patiala Road when the season is at its peak. It can get a bit chaotic, but we manage to get through it every year. It is just a regular local business where we put in a full day's work and try to keep things running smooth for the people who depend on us. We stay until the last bag is sorted and the machines are finally turned off for the night.
