Sankaramangalam Public School

Our school is tucked away in Kaviyoor, over in Pathanamthitta. It's a quiet area mostly, which is good for the kids when they are trying to study. We’ve been operating for several years now, and most of the locals know where we are. The building is solid and we try to keep the grounds tidy, though the grass grows fast in this part of Kerala. Inside, the rooms are filled with desks and posters the students made. We don’t go in for anything too flashy here. It’s just a place for learning. The teachers show up early and the bell rings right on time every morning. We see a lot of the same families year after year, which is nice because you get to see the younger siblings coming up through the grades. Sometimes the rain makes things a bit soggy around the entrance, but we just put down some planks or sand and keep going. We don’t have a massive staff, so everyone chips in with different jobs, whether it’s fixing a chair or helping out at the gate. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but the air is fresh and there are plenty of trees around. We just want the kids to have a steady place to come to every day. There’s always something to do, but we like the pace of things here. It feels like a real part of the neighborhood and we like it that way.
