Our shop is tucked away at 1825 in the New Housing Board Colony. It’s a quiet spot compared to the main markets, but we like it that way. We started out with just a few rolls of curtain fabric and some basic cushions. Now, the walls are pretty much covered with different patterns and textures. It’s a small space, so you really have to watch your step when we’re unpacking new linens or bedsheets. Most of our neighbors know us by now. We spend our mornings dusting the shelves and straightening out the displays that got messed up the day before. The sunlight comes in through the front window around noon and makes the colors look different. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where the curtain rods are kept. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook with people asking about prices, and other times it’s just still. We keep a ledger on the wooden counter to track the orders. It’s a simple setup. We don't go for anything too flashy. People just come in, look at the catalogs, and touch the fabrics to see if they like the feel. The New Housing Board area has grown, and we’ve grown with it, one cushion cover at a time. It’s just a regular local business where we know most of the faces that walk through the door. We stay until late evening most days.
