About Mahadev Tent House – Event & Planning in Pali
Down here on Shivaji Nagar Dairy Road, near C5 136, it’s mostly about the physical work. Running a tent house means we are always moving poles, heavy canvas sheets, and stacks of plastic chairs. My clothes are usually covered in a bit of dust because we spend so much time in the warehouse area sorting through the gear after a wedding or a local function. When someone has an event, we load everything onto the back of the truck, which is a big job that takes a few hours if the sun is out. I have a few guys who help me with the heavy lifting because I can't do it all myself anymore. We keep the decorations and the colorful cloths folded up on high shelves to keep them clean. It’s not a quiet job, there’s always the sound of metal clanging or the truck engine idling out front. In the rainy season, things slow down a lot and we spend that time repairing the tears in the tents or painting the chair legs. People just drop by the shop to talk about their dates and what kind of setup they want. I usually just show them some old photos I have or point to the stuff we have in the back. It is hard labor and we’re often working late into the night to get things ready for the next morning. Sometimes we even have to travel to nearby villages to set everything up.
