Bhagwati Sound is over on Sardar Samand Road in Himmat Nagar, at number 186. You can usually hear us before you see us. We are often testing out speakers or checking the microphones to make sure everything is working right for the next event. The shop is filled with black boxes, long coils of cables, and amplifiers stacked on top of each other. It’s a bit of a mess with wires running across the floor, but I know where everything plugs in. People come to us when they have a religious gathering, a small party, or a local festival and they need to be heard. Sardar Samand Road is a busy stretch, so there is always noise from the traffic outside mixing with the music we play to test the bass. It’s a lot of loading heavy speakers into the back of rickshaws. I spend a lot of time soldering broken wires or cleaning the dust out of the mixing boards. Himmat Nagar is a good neighborhood and we know most of the people around here. Sometimes the neighbors ask us to turn it down a bit, and we try to be careful about that. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle the gear. It’s a loud, busy life but it keeps us going.
