Inder Raj Bhandari

Inder Raj Bhandari has been around here in Bali Azad Basti for a while now. It’s a busy spot and we just try to keep things moving as they should. Most days start early with a cup of tea while we look at what needs to get done before the sun gets too hot. The neighbors know us and we know them, which makes the long hours a bit easier to handle. There isn't much fancy about how we work. We have a desk, some chairs, and a lot of papers that seem to grow into piles if we don't watch out. Sometimes the power goes out or the rain makes the street outside a bit messy, but that is just how it is living here. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. It’s about getting through the list of tasks and making sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle. People drop by without calling first sometimes and we just pull up a stool for them. It’s not a corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a place in the Basti where work happens. We try to be honest about what we can do and when it will be finished. Life moves at its own pace here and we just go along with it, day after day, year after year.
