Working out here in Tarapur at the MIDC estate is a different world compared to the city. It’s all big buildings and trucks moving in and out of the industrial area. Our place at C/7 is a large setup because we handle a lot of fabric production. You can hear the hum of the machinery from the moment you walk through the gate. It’s a long commute for some of us, but you get used to the routine of the industrial estate. The air smells a bit like chemicals and heavy steam sometimes. Inside, the floors are concrete and there are rolls of fabric stacked up high towards the ceiling. It’s not a place where you come for a fancy shopping experience; it’s where the actual work happens. We have a lot of people on the floor, and everyone has their specific job to do. We take our lunches together in the break area, usually talking about the cricket score or the traffic on the way in. The machines are loud, so we have to shout a bit to be heard. It’s a lot of manual labor and keeping an eye on the quality of what’s coming off the line. We don’t have time for a lot of talk or decorating the office. We just make sure the production stays on schedule and the lorries are loaded up on time. It is a busy, dusty, and honest day's work every single day.
