Malabar Cements Ltd. is based out at Walayar P.O. It is a large site and you can see the activity from the road long before you get to the gate. The whole area around Walayar is very much focused on what we do here. It is a busy place with a lot of heavy machinery running and trucks coming and going at all hours. We spend our time making cement, which means the air is often dusty and the noise is constant. It is not a quiet or clean place to work, but it is where the job gets done. We have a lot of local workers from the surrounding area who come in for their shifts. The office part of the building is just as hectic as the plant itself, with everyone trying to coordinate the trucks and the production schedules. We’ve been operating in Walayar for a long time, and the plant has become a big part of the local landscape. We don't have a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We make cement and we sell it to people who are building things. It is a basic product and we focus on the practical side of producing it in large quantities. There are always challenges with the machinery or the weather, but we just keep the plant running. It’s a lot of hard, physical work and long hours for the people who work here, but we just keep at it day after day.
