Ansar Hardware & Cements

Our shop is right at Palayamjunction in Thirunellai. It is a good spot because everyone has to pass through the junction eventually to get anywhere. We sell a bit of everything, from hardware tools and nails to big bags of cement. It is a bit of a squeeze inside the shop because we try to fit so many different items on the shelves. You might find a hammer sitting next to a plumbing pipe, but we usually know where everything is hidden. The traffic outside is constant, so there is always a lot of noise and fumes coming in through the front door. We get all sorts of customers, some who know exactly what they want and others who need us to figure out which bolt fits their machine. We aren't experts, but we have seen enough over the years to help out. It is a family-run kind of thing, so there is usually someone around to grab what you need. We don't do any big promotions or seasonal sales. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer to arrive. Some days it is just selling small things like screws, and other days we are loading up a whole truck with cement. It is hard to predict. The floor is usually a bit dirty from all the people walking in, but we sweep it when we have a spare minute.
