About National Horticulture Mission – Agriculture & Farming in North West Delhi
The office for the National Horticulture Mission is located at Q-9 in Tagore Park, over in Model Town-1. It’s a bit of an older building, and the walk through the park to get here is actually the best part of the morning. Inside, it’s mostly what you’d expect from a place that deals with plants and government projects. There are stacks of reports and maps pinned to the walls. We spend a lot of time talking to farmers and looking at soil data or seed distribution lists. The fans on the ceiling tend to creak a bit when they are on the high setting, but we’ve gotten used to the sound. It is not a fast-paced environment like the city center, but there is always a steady stream of people coming in with questions. We have a small cupboard for tea and biscuits in the corner. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit overwhelming, especially when the new season starts and everyone wants their permits or advice at once. We don't have any flashy furniture, just some old wooden desks and chairs that have been here since I started. It feels like a community spot in a way. People in Model Town know where we are, and we just keep doing the daily work of managing the local horticulture needs without much fuss. It is a quiet kind of work that mostly depends on how the seasons are treating the crops outside.
