Madhu Marble

We’ve been here at 86 Brb Basu Road for quite a while now. Most people know this spot as Rampuria Market on Canning Street, which is always busy. Our place is actually on the 5th floor, so it’s a bit of a hike if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes. We mostly deal with marble slabs and different types of stone. It’s heavy work and the office is usually covered in a bit of dust, but that’s just how it goes when you’re handling these materials all day. We spend most of our time taking orders or checking the stock that comes in. It’s not a fancy showroom with lights and mirrors. It’s just a practical space where we keep the books and talk to customers who need stuff for their floors or counters. Sometimes the traffic on Canning Street makes it hard for the trucks to get close, so we have to coordinate everything carefully. We’ve seen the market change over the years, but we just keep doing what we do. It’s a family-run kind of vibe here. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the pieces get where they need to go. If you’re looking for us, just head to the Rampuria building and take the lift up to the fifth. We are usually around from morning until the market starts to quiet down in the evening.
