Iqbal Hair Cut Saloon Kabeer

The shop is right on Ghonda Road here in Delhi. It’s not a big place at all, just a few chairs and some mirrors that have seen better days. We’ve been in Ghonda for a long time, so we know most of the faces that walk through the door. It gets really crowded on weekends, especially in the mornings when everyone wants to look sharp for whatever they have planned. There is usually a bit of music playing and a lot of talking going on between the chairs. We don't have a receptionist or any of those fancy booking systems. You just walk in and wait your turn on the bench. Sometimes the floor is covered in hair because we haven't had a single second to sweep, but we get to it when things slow down. It’s a simple life for us. We talk about the weather, the local news, or whatever is happening out in the street. The mirrors are a bit old and the chairs have some wear on them, but they’re comfortable enough for a haircut. People come to us because they know we’ve been here forever and we don't charge too much. We don't do anything too fancy, just regular haircuts and shaves. It gets very hot in the summer, but the ceiling fan does what it can to keep us cool. Being in this part of Delhi means there’s always noise outside from the traffic and the markets. We’re just a small part of the neighborhood.
