Computer Operator

My work is located at 86/1, Gali No.3, in Shastri Park. New Delhi is a huge city, but this little corner of it feels like its own small world. I’ve been operating computers here for a while, mostly just helping out with whatever needs to be typed or filed. The room is tucked away in the lane, so it stays a bit cooler than the main street. I have a couple of old monitors and a printer that makes a lot of noise, but it still works well enough for what we need. I spend my mornings checking through emails and my afternoons doing more of the heavy typing work. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to ask a question about their phones or how to find something online. I don't mind it, it’s nice to be helpful to the people around here. Gali No. 3 is usually pretty lively with kids playing or people talking, so there’s always some background noise coming through the door. I’ve gotten good at ignoring it while I focus on the screen in front of me. It’s not a corporate job with meetings and suits. I just wear my regular clothes and get to work every day. Sometimes I have to stay late if there’s a lot of backlog from the previous day, but usually, I try to wrap up by dinner time. It’s a steady way to earn a living and stay involved with the community. Just plain, honest work behind a desk.
