If you head up to the first floor of Katra Ishwar Bhawan, you’ll find us at number 524. My name is Vinod Kumar Wadhwa, and this is where I run my business. Being in Khari Baoli means it’s always crowded and noisy, but that’s the spirit of the place. The office is small and filled with ledgers and samples. It’s not the kind of place you see in a magazine. It’s a real working office where we deal with trade every single day. I’ve spent many years in this building. The stairs are a bit steep, so I tell people to watch their step. We handle a lot of different products, and the inventory changes depending on the season. I don't use a lot of fancy technology. A telephone and a good pen are usually enough for me. Sometimes I have a helper here, but mostly it's just me managing the orders. The air in Khari Baoli is always spicy and warm. You get used to the smell of the market. I don't have a big staff or a fancy title. I’m just a trader doing my job. People come by to talk business, and we usually sit on the stools and hash things out. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it’s worked for a long time. I just take things one day at a time here. There isn't any fancy secret to it, just staying at the desk and working. I suppose that's how life goes here.
