Shree Ji Spices

If you know Old Delhi, you know how crowded Khari Baoli Road is. Our shop, Shree Ji Spices, is at Plot No. 2139. We are tucked in near Katra Pedan, which is close to the Fatehpuri area. It is one of the oldest spice markets in the world, and you can feel that history when you walk down the street. The air is always thick with the smell of red chilies and turmeric. It makes you sneeze if you aren't used to it. Our shop isn't very big, but we pack a lot into it. We have bags of spices stacked up to the ceiling sometimes. It is a constant rush of people, carts, and laborers moving heavy sacks on their backs. We sit on a raised platform mostly, which is the traditional way of doing business here. We talk to customers all day, many of whom have been buying from our family for a long time. There is no quiet moment until we pull the shutters down at night. We don't use much technology besides a basic phone and some old calculators. It is all about the personal connection and the quality of what is in the bag. The walls are a bit dusty and the floors are worn down from all the feet walking over them. We don't mind the chaos. This is just where we belong and how we've always done things for years.
