Our place is down in the basement at T-33, near the Gurdwara in Basti Panjabi. Being on Roshanara Road means there is always noise from the traffic and people moving about, but once you step down into the basement, it gets a lot quieter for some reason. It’s a bit of a maze down here with all the products we keep in stock on the shelves. Shivin Products has been around for some time, and we’ve gotten used to the dim light and the way the air feels underground. It’s not the kind of place you’d find in a design magazine, but it’s ours. We spend a lot of time counting stock and packing things up into boxes. Sometimes the overhead lights flicker, and we keep saying we’ll fix them, but then we just get busy with something else and forget. The proximity to the Gurdwara is nice; you can hear the morning sounds if you get in early enough to start the day. Basti Panjabi is a crowded area, so parking is always a nightmare, but we’ve learned the tricks of where to squeeze a vehicle into a tight spot. It’s a very basic operation. We don’t use fancy software for everything; a lot of things are still written down in ledgers because that’s what we know best. It’s just honest work in a busy part of the city. We do our jobs and then head home like everyone else.
