Ravi Confectionery Works

Gali Zameer wali is a tight squeeze most days. You can barely get a scooter through when the delivery carts are parked up. Ravi Confectionery Works has been tucked away here in Nawab ganj for quite some time now. We open the shutters early at 9140 and start setting things out. It is mostly a lot of boxes and jars sitting on old wooden shelves. The air usually smells a bit like sugar and burnt milk, depending on what is being moved around that morning. It’s not a fancy place with bright lights or glass displays. Most of the people who stop by are from the neighborhood or shopkeepers from the nearby Azad Market looking for stock. We spend a lot of time just counting inventory and making sure the plastic wraps are tight. Sometimes the fans don’t work right and it gets stuffy, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us moving crates and handling the ledger. People know us by face. We don’t really do much advertising because the street is so busy that someone is always walking past the door anyway. It’s a lot of work keeping things organized in such a small space, but we manage to get through the daily list. It’s just a regular shop doing what it does every day. We don't worry about being the biggest, just staying open.
