Naveen Rice Traders

If you go down to Naya Bazar in Chandni Chowk, you will find Naveen Rice Traders at Plot No. 260/2. It is a very crowded part of the city, but that is where all the trade happens. The streets are narrow and there are carts and people everywhere. Our shop is filled with sacks of rice piled up high. We’ve been working out of this spot for a long time. It’s a family tradition, really. We spend the whole day talking to suppliers and buyers who come from all over. The smell of raw rice is always in the air. We don't have much space for sitting around, so we are usually on our feet. It is a noisy place, with everyone shouting prices and the sounds of the market. We don't use computers for everything; a lot of our notes are still written by hand in big books. That’s how we’ve always done it. Chandni Chowk has a lot of history, and being part of Naya Bazar feels like we are part of that. We don't try to sound like a big modern corporation. We are just traders who know our rice. Some days are exhausting because of the heat and the crowds, but we show up every morning anyway. People know they can find us here six days a week. It’s just a regular shop in a busy market, doing its best.
