Madho Ram Mohan Lal is an old-style business located on the first floor of 528, Kt. Ishwar Bhawan. We are right in the heart of Khari Baoli, which is famous for being one of the busiest markets around. The building itself is quite old, and you have to climb a set of narrow stairs to get up to us. Once you’re inside, the smell of the market follows you in. We’ve been here for a long time, and the place is filled with old ledgers and wooden furniture that’s been around longer than I have. We don't bother with modern marketing or flashy displays. Most people find us because their families have been doing business with ours for years. It’s a very traditional way of working. We spend a lot of time just talking to people and checking the quality of what we’re buying and selling. It’s loud and dusty in Khari Baoli, and some days it feels like the whole world is trying to squeeze through the narrow streets outside. We don't have a corporate structure or anything like that. It’s just us, doing things the way they’ve always been done. We don't need a lot of technology to do our jobs, just a good eye and a bit of patience. It’s a life we’re used to and we wouldn't have it any other way. We stay open until the market starts to wind down in the evening.
